Leon coaster pattern

Sometimes Mr. Husband and I dig at each other, politely of course.

Several months ago his 3D printing community organised a 3D printer party at Leon, a beautiful city to the northwest of Spain.

They decided to adopt the rose window of the cathedral as their logo for the event and everyone had to send printed rose windows- as gifts for the visitors- to the place where the event was going to take place.

When I saw the first one I told him that it was awesome and that I could crochet a rose window too. He looked at me with this half a smile of incredulity, so I told him very seriously that I would do it.

This week was the perfect time to design it so I took some yarn leftovers and my hook and this is what I came up with: Leon coaster pattern.

Materials:

- Yarn leftovers ( mine were Sur from Stop yarns, a cotton like acrylic yarn)
- 3.5 mm hook.
- Tapestry needle.
- Scissors.

Abreviations:

Sl st- slip stitch.
SC- single crochet.
DC- double crochet.
TC- triple crochet.

Pattern:

Ch 5 and join to the first st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch1 and work 12 SC into the ring. Join with sl st to the first SC of the previous round ( 12 sc).

Rnd 2: Ch6 and DC in the next SC of the previous round, *Ch 3 and DC in the next st. Repeat from * all the way around ending with Ch 3. Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of the first Ch 6 ( 12 DC, Ch 3 spaces).

Rnd 3: Ch6 and TC in the middle chain of the first Ch3 space, Ch2 and TC in the next DC, *Ch2 and TC in the middle chain of the next Ch3 space, Ch2 and TC in the next DC. Repeat from * all the way around ending with Ch2. Join with sl st to the 4th ch of the initial Ch6 (24 TC, Ch2 spaces).

Rnd 4: Ch1 and SC in the same st, Ch2 and SC in the next TC, *Ch2 and SC in the next TC. Repeat all the way around ending with Ch2. Join with sl st to the first SC (24 SC, Ch2 spaces).

Rnd 5: Ch1 and SC in the same st, SC in every SC. Join with an invisible join ( 72 sc). Weave in ends.

That's it! Easy as pie and you don't need anything but a small amount of yarn as it is a very airy pattern, even tiny amounts of yarn will do.

Ok, ok, Mr. Husband's earring is a more precise interpretation but, you know, handmade is by definition imperfect and I love imperfection :-)

Finally, I've found the world of rose windows very interesting and challenging so I will try another one. Let's see if Mc Husband can match my work! (Muahaha!).

I'm afraid that the next question is going to be similar to who do you love the most, mummy or daddy? But which one do you like the most?

That's all for today which is no small thing.
Catch you next Sunday!
