Frappé- Spring/Summer 2014

As Spring is already here and Summer is just around the corner it's time to talk about coffee (yes, yes, wait and see).

As I'm a very positive Earth being, I like to think that the temperature is rising and that it's just the right time to start making frappé coffee and crocheting Summer accessories.

T-shirt yarn clutch pattern for Mother's Day

As I told you here, last year we had several workshops with Little Romulan and his classmates using t-shirt yarn.

This year I'd like to teach them how to crochet useful things keeping it as simple as possible. We're going to use chains and single crochet- I hope they haven't forgotten how to make them- to work a clutch for Mother's Day. What a nice little present, don’t you think?

I think the pattern is easy enough for them to understand and follow.

Nemo mesh shawl- Spring/Summer 2014

What is the topic for today? Oh, yes, yes...No, it isn't that. Let me think...No, that's not the topic either. Hmmm...Yes, I remember!

Yesterday I forgot to pick up Little Romulan from school after a long school-excursion day. I felt terribly guilty while I was waiting for my dearest friend Nadia to bring him home- thank you, darling- and for the rest of the evening and part of the night...until I fell asleep.

Inheritance

Today, lateral thinking but I promiss that it’s related to our passion, that is working with yarn.

Firstly I have to tell you a story: my second surname (yes, here in Spain we have two surnames, father’s and mother’s) is Mouliaá.

We’ve been wondering for ages where did it come from. We had our suspicions but we didn’t know for sure until my uncle came up with our family tree as a result of years of research.

The first Mouliaá that we know about, Arnaldo Guillaume de Mouliaá, was a noble Frenchman born in the Bearne region (south of France) in the XVII century.

When I told Little Romulan the story he asked:

-“ Mummy, so we are rich, aren’t we?” (they are studying the Middle Age at school and everything related to nobles and knights is cool. Poor thing… ). Note: we have to revise together when the Middle Age started and ended, I think he’s a little bit confused.
